MälarNetCity aims to make the CityNet and the contents of Västerås’s digital world visible. We aim to assist in the distribution of information, offer increased scope for customer relationships and sales and promote strong local involvement. We want to serve as the spider in the web, interacting with signposting all the thousands of websites run by Västerås companies, organisations and associations.
MalarNetCity has no editorial board, it is not we who create the content. That work is done by the city’s population, private persons, companies, associations and organisations. We create the structure and the toolboxes that make it all possible.
MalarNetCity rests on three cornerstones:
• The meeting-place, the community, where people can have their say, blog, show pictures, forge contacts, chat, create activities and form interest-groups.
• The marketplace where companies and associations can provide information, present offers, carry out e-trade, form business relationships, conduct projects and activities and increase traffic to their own websites.
• The CityNet: MälarNetCity powers the urban network by presenting all the relevant information about CityNet, all the services available, offering service suppliers a marketplace for their offers and making it easier for the people of Västerås to link up.
As a city portal, MälarNetCity has a strong focus on social benefit. We want everyone to have the finances and the ability to have their say on the Net. That is why prices are differentiated for different user categories. Private persons pay nothing for access to their tools. Small associations pay a small fee while large companies pay a somewhat higher fee.
